From Orange Lutheran's Derek Curiel to Yucaipa's Owen Egan, the Southern Section was loaded with talented outfielders this season.

With the 2022 Southern Section high school baseball season in the books, we're continuing to look at some of the Section's top players position by position from this past year. We started behind the plate, and then moved to first base, second base, shortstop and third base. Now we're onto the outfield.

TOP 25 OUTFIELDERS IN SOUTHERN SECTION HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

(The list is in alphabetical order)

Toussaint Bythewood - Harvard-Westlake - 2022

Bythewood missed a lot of the season due to injury, but when he played, the UCLA commit was one of the top outfielders in the state. Last season, he was named the Mission League Player of the Year. 

Derek Curiel - Orange Lutheran - 2024

Curiel is an LSU commit and one of the best outfielders in the state regardless of class. He batted leadoff for the Lancers this season and recorded 25 hits. 

Owen Egan - Yucaipa - 2023

Egan is committed to UCLA. He hit a three run home run in Yucaipa's 7-0 win over King earlier this season. 

Aidan Espinoza - Huntington Beach - 2023

Espinoza is committed to UCLA. He was one of the top players on a Huntington Beach team that made the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals this year. 

Ryusei Fujiwara - JSerra - 2022

Fujiwara is a natural shortstop, but lined up in left field for the Division 1 Southern Section champion Lions this season. He quickly established himself as one of the top defensive outfielders in the Section routinely making diving plays. Fujiwara is committed to Cal Poly. 

Logan de Groot - Santa Margarita - 2024

de Groot is a UCLA commit. 

Will Gasparino - Harvard-Westlake - 2023

Gasparino has pledged to the University of Texas. 

Landon Greenhouse - King - 2023

Greenhouse didn't make a single error this season. He's committed to USC. 

Jarrod Hocking - Servite - 2022

Hocking is an exceptional two way player. He has tremendous range in center field and at the plate, he hit .333 this year. Hocking is committed to UCLA. 

Riley Hunsaker - Citrus Valley - 2023 

Hunsaker led Citrus Valley with two home runs this year. The USC commit also paced the Blackhawks with 33 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, and eight triples. 

Marty Kaplan - Harvard-Westlake - 2022

Kaplan is committed to Northwestern. He went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI's in a 10-3 Mission League win over Notre Dame earlier this season. 

Jackson Kemmerer - Tesoro - 2023

Kemmerer helped lead Tesoro to the Division 4 Southern Section championship this season. He's committed to the University of Nevada. 

Ryan Limerick - Notre Dame - 2023  

Limerick is a UC Santa Barbara commit. He scored the game-winning run in Notre Dame's 5-4 upset win over Orange Lutheran in the Division 1 Southern Section quarterfinals. 

Bryan Martinez - Orange Lutheran - 2022

Martinez hit two home runs this season. He's a Long Beach State commit. 

Troy McCain - Corona - 2022 

McCain is committed to Cal Poly. He hit a walk-off double in Corona's 12-11 win over Capo Valley this year. Earlier in the game, he made a great catch in center field. 

Austin Overn - Foothill - 2022 

Overn is a tremendous talent. The USC commit is arguably the top defensive player on the list. He also has blazing speed and one of the top bats in the state. Overn had 30 hits this season, stole 23 bases and hit two home runs.  

Nick Peoples - Northview - 2022 

Peoples was one of Northview's captains this season. The New Mexico State commit hit a towering home run in the Vikings' 4-3 win over Covina in April. Peoples also played basketball at Northview. 

Justin Roulston - Culver City - 2022

Roulston had a fantastic season for Culver City. The Long Beach State commit hit .459 with 34 hits, 25 runs and four triples. 

Drew Rutter - Santa Margarita - 2023  

Rutter is committed to San Diego State.

Trevor Schmidt - Servite - 2022 

Schmidt had 13 RBI's and six doubles in 18 games for Servite. He's committed to the University of Arizona. 

Christian Smith - Great Oak - 2022  

Smith is committed to San Diego State. He led the Wolfpack with three home runs. Smith also scored 25 runs and had 24 hits. 

Aiden Taurek - Foothill - 2022

St. Marys got a steal in Taurek. The senior batted .322 this season with 28 hits, six home runs and a team high 21 RBI's. 

Paul Vazquez - South Hills - 2024 

Vazquez is committed to Oregon State. He led the Huskies with a .375 batting average and .562 slugging percentage in 2022. 

Dean West - Notre Dame - 2023 

West is one of the most patient hitters in California high school baseball. The UCLA commit batted leadoff for Notre Dame this season and led the team with a .500 on base percentage. He stole a team high 17 bases, scored a team high 25 runs and hit a team high seven doubles. He's also very good with his glove in center field. 

Noah Williams - Redondo Union - 2022

Williams did a little bit of everything offensively for Redondo Union this season. At the dish, he hit .364 with a .506 OBP. Williams also scored 19 runs, had 19 RBI's and hit four triples.
