It was an apt setting to play a championship soccer match.

Washington of San Francisco, which plays its home games overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, traveled to another picturesque destination, Pebble Beach to face Stevenson for the CIF Northern California Division 5 boys soccer championship.

The Eagles (15-4-8) completed a stellar postseason with their third straight shutout and decisive win with a 2-0 victory Saturday to claim the school's first regional title and the second title from the San Francisco Section. The other was in 2019 when Mission defeated Hilmar, 4-0.

Lowell's girls won previous NorCal titles in 2018 and 2019.

Lucas Del Olmo and Cris Jackson Escobar each scored goals for the Eagles, both on penalty kicks, and the Eagles stellar defense did the rest. Goalie James Harvey registered the team's 13th shutout of the season and sixth in a row. The Eagles haven't allowed a goal since a 2-1 win over Mission on Feb. 20. For the season they outscored opponents, 50-22.

Earlier in the tournament, Washington, the second seed, defeated Winters 4-0 in first-round play and Skyline-Oakland 3-0 in the semifinals. Stevenson, the first seed, beat Esparto 2-1 and Summerville 2-1 in overtime.

Other Northern California champions crowned Saturday were were Mitty (D1), Burlingame (D2), Newark Memorial (D3) and King City (D4).

NorCal girls' champions were Mitty (D1), St. Francis-Sacramento (D2), University-San Francisco (D3), Marin Catholic (D4) and Winters (D5).
