Emmi Almeida scores game-high 21 points to lead Caruthers past Granada Hills Charter 54-48

SACRAMENTO — Emmi Almeida scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Caruthers past Granada Hills Charter 54-48 on Friday afternoon in the California (CIF) Division 3 state girls basketball championship at the Golden 1 Center.

It marks the second state girls hoop title for the Blue Raiders (25-8) with the first coming in 2019.

Gizelle Aguirre supplied 14 points including connecting on three 3-pointers in the victory.

Karma Paez led Granada Hills Charter (21-12) with 15 points while teammate Gabriella Arellano added 11 which included three 3-pointers.

Caruthers jumped out to a 16-8 first period lead.
