Add another top-tier, high-level matchup to the 2023 high school football slate.

In what should be one of many standout matchups of the 2023 regular season, another one that was announced on Wednesday morning and could be game of the year.

Florida meets Nevada come Sep. 1st in Las Vegas. Miami Central will travel across the country to face the defending GEICO Bowl Series national champion Bishop Gorman, according to Rivals.com’s Frank Tucker.

This off-season for the Rockets has seen a slew of transfers come in for the defending Class 2M state champion. Over the last few months, players like Armondo Blount (Dillard transfer), Antonio Smith (Killian transfer), JC Evans (Brandeis transfer), Bekkem Kritza (Santa Margarita Catholic transfer), TA Cunningham (Los Alamitos transfer) and TK Cunningham (Los Alamitos transfer) have come to 95th St.

Miami Central will be facing Chaminade-Madonna in Week 5 of the regular season at Traz Powell Stadium, already making that matchup one of the must-watch games of 2023. This one, though, may top it. The Gaels defeated the Lions 49-14 back in December for the 2022 GEICO Bowl Series national championship.

Bishop Gorman returns a star-studded squad this fall, including players like running back Micah Kaapena, athlete Landon Bell, wide receiver David Washington, linebacker Charles Correa (UNLV commit), quarterback Micah Alejado (Hawaii commit) and tight end Elijah Lofton.
