Leroy Roker commits to Ohio State; 3-star safety picks Buckeyes over Iowa

The Bishop Verot (Florida) safety announced his commitment to the Buckeyes Wednesday afternoon

FORT MYERS, FLORIDA - Whenever you think of Bishop Verot’s football team, junior quarterback Carter Smith quickly comes to mind. 

Before Smith, one of the state’s most coveted quarterbacks, decides where he will eventually end up, his teammate on the defensive side went ahead and announced his future destination. 

Wednesday afternoon, Bishop Verot safety Leroy Roker announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he is committing to Ohio State over Iowa. The Vikings’ defensive back is one of Southwest Florida’s top defensive prospects and is rated a three-star, according to 247Sports.

Roker has appeared in six games this season for the Vikings, who are considered to be a state championship contender in Class 2S, and made 34 tackles, two interceptions and six passes defended. 

It’s been a solid week for the Buckeyes recruiting out of the Sunshine State as they recently landed four-state Cocoa wide receiver Jayvan Boggs on Monday.
