RB Quaron Adams, Chandler. He missed most of his sophomore season with a broken collarbone, but the state 100-meter champion as a freshman brings speed and elusiveness that the Wolves will need to find a way to get on the field, even with all the skill players around him.
FS Ammon Allen, Highland. One of the more underrated recruits in the Class of 2021, Allen has received looks from the service academies and FCS schools. He had 75 tackles and four interceptions last season.
WR Cade Berger, Perry. A second-team all-region selection a year ago, Berger is a speedy big-play threat, catching 36 passes for 909 yards (25.3 per catch) and eight touchdowns as a junior.
DE Brandon Buckner, Chandler. The University of Oregon commit should build upon a junior season during which he recorded 24 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and 10 quarterback hurries.
LB Kam Cullimore, Highland. The younger brother of former Hawks standout Kohnor Cuillimore made a team-high 84 tackles in 2019.
QB Gage Dayley, Highland. Dayley won the starting role last season and received all-region honorable mention after throwing for 1,250 yards and 13 touchdowns and completing 80 of 123 passes (65 percent).
WR Kyion Grayes, Chandler. He recently committed to Arizona, and he can play both outside and in the slot. He caught a team-high 48 passes last year.
WR Branson Heywood, Higley. Heywood was among QB Kai Millner’s favorite targets a year ago, with his 636 receiving yards and 16.3 average per catch both team highs, and his 39 receptions and six touchdowns one off the team lead in each category.
RB/FS Jack Howell, Hamilton. The Colorado State commit transferred from Valor Christian in Highlands Ranch, Colo., where he was a jack-of-all-trades for the Eagles. He was a triple-threat on offense, completing 56 percent of his 25 passes, running for 582 yards and 11 touchdowns and catching eight passes. He had 65 tackles, three interceptions and three pass breakups in the secondary.
QB Mikey Keene, Chandler. The Central Florida commit completed nearly 73 percent of his passes last year, finishing with 2,835 yards and 23 touchdowns.
DE Steven Kennedy Jr., Perry. The junior led the Pumas with 10 tackles for loss (four sacks) among his 36 tackles last season.
WR/CB Zachary Lewis, Hamilton. A second-team all-region pick and a Nevada commit on defense, Lewis caught 23 passes for 408 yards last year and is the team’s top returning rusher with 136 yards and a touchdown. The third-year starter also made 49 tackles (three for loss) and had 11 pass breakups and three interceptions at corner.
DE Zion Magalei, Chandler. He’ll bookend the Wolves’ defensive line with Buckner and be just as disruptive — he had 14 tackles for loss and 11½ sacks last season.
QB Nicco Marchiol, Hamilton. Of all the transfers to arrive on campus this fall, this Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.) transplant might be the most important, taking over after the Huskies lost their top two at the position to graduation and transfer.
CB Cole Martin, Hamilton. The sophomore already has emerged as one of the state’s top defensive backs, with offers from Michigan State, LSU and Oregon.
TE/DE Michael Masunas, Hamilton. One of the state’s top junior recruits, Masunas transferred over the winter from Tucson Sabino after his family moved for work. He caught 17 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore and had 36 tackles and six sacks as a first-team all-region defensive lineman.
QB Kai Millner, Higley. The Knights’ hopes of making a successful climb from 5A to 6A fall on the Cal-Berkeley recruit’s broad shoulders. He threw for 2,390 yards and 31 touchdowns last season.
WR Jalen Richmond, Chandler. A second-team all-region pick and Boise State commit (No. 24 on 247Sports’ Arizona list), Richmond caught 41 passes for 725 yards and a team-high nine touchdowns as a junior. Wolves coach Rick Garretson called him the team’s spark plug, with a knack for coming up with big plays early in big games that got the team going.
RB Eli Sanders, Chandler. Sanders will take over the No. 1 tailback job from 6A player of the year Daveon Hunter, now at Hawaii.
WR/SS Brady Shough, Hamilton. An honorable mention all-region pick a year ago, the younger brother of Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough was the Huskies’ second-leading receiver with 36 catches for 431 yards and two touchdowns. The sure-handed safety also made 59 tackles, broke up four passes and intercepted two.
