WEBSTER GROVES, MISSOURI – The Incarnate Word girls basketball team overcame a seven-point halftime deficit and second-half foul trouble to defeat John Burroughs 50-47 in the championship game of the Webster Winter Challenge on Saturday night. 

The victory was the 120th straight for Incarnate Word (20-0), the No. 11 team in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated national girls basketball rankings.

Kaylyn Janes, a Northern Iowa signee, led the Red Knights with 13 points, while Zoe Best and Nevaeh Caffey each added 12. Best also had a team-high nine rebounds. 

John Burroughs, which led by seven points at halftime, fell to 17-2 on the season – with both losses to the Red Knights. The Bombers lost to IWA 50-46 in the championship game of the Visitation Tournament on Dec. 28.

Breaunna Ward and Moriyah Douglass led Burroughs with 10 points apiece. Allie Turner, a senior point guard headed to Gonzaga, added eight points. 

Incarnate Word and John Burroughs will play one more time this season as the Red Knights will host the Bombers on February 21.
