SBLive’s San Diego Section Top 10 Football Rankings: Cathedral Catholic stays at No. 1 entering postseason

The 11th and final week of regular season football games in the San Diego Section featured minimal movement by top 10 teams. Mira Mesa moved out of the top 10 after losing to No. 5 Madison in their regular season finale. Mt. Carmel moved back into the top 10 following their win over Westview that resulted in the Sundevils clinching the Palomar League title.

Cathedral Catholic remains at No. 1 in the latest SBLive Top 10 San Diego Section high school football rankings (Nov. 1) heading into the first week of playoffs. The rankings are compiled by reporter Bodie De Silva and will be released every Monday throughout the fall 2021 season.

1. Cathedral Catholic (7-2)

The Dons game against Lincoln was canceled. They'll have an additional week off as the two-seed in the Open Division playoffs.

2. Carlsbad (10-0)

Carlsbad cruised against Vista to finish with an undefeated regular season, stretching their overall winning streak to 16 straight. They'll have a week off before hosting Torrey Pines as the top-seed in the Open Division playoffs.

3. Mater Dei Catholic (8-0)

The Crusaders game against Olympian was canceled due to COVID-19 protocol. They'll have a bye as the two-seed in the Division 3 playoffs.

4. Mission Hills (8-2)

Mission Hills dominated rival San Marcos, 41-7, to finish the regular season on a five-game winning streak. They are the three-seed in the Open Division playoffs and will travel to Cathedral Catholic in two weeks.

5. Madison (8-2)

Madison cruised throughout their win over Mira Mesa, 40-13. The Warhawks are the two-seed in the Division 1 playoffs.

6. Lincoln (6-3)

Lincoln canceled their game against Cathedral Catholic in week 11. The Hornets are the three-seed in the D1 playoffs.

7. Torrey Pines (6-3)

Torrey Pines defeated rival La Costa Canyon on the road, 29-13. The Falcons secured the four-seed in the Open Division playoffs with the victory.

8. Helix (6-3)

The Highlanders took down Granite Hills in a shootout, 49-35. Helix will have a week off as the top-seed in the Division 1 playoffs.

9. Santa Fe Christian (9-0)

Mt. Carmel beat Westview, 42-7, to clinch the Palomar League title. They enter the playoffs as the top-seed in the Division 3 playoffs.
