Jacob Anderson, 3-star offensive tackle, commits to Oregon State Beavers over Baylor, Utah, others

Billings West High School (Montana) offensive tackle Jacob Anderson said Oregon State offensive line coach Jim Michalczik was a huge part of his recruitment

The Oregon State Beavers 2023 recruiting class entered the week with six pledges, five of which came from offensive skill positions.

It's a solid collection of foundational talent for the class, but it also leads one to an obvious question.

Where's the beef?

That answer came, at least in part, Monday, as Billings West High School (Montana) three-star offensive tackle Jacob Anderson announced his commitment to Oregon State over offers from Baylor, Colorado, Kansas State, Utah and others.

"I took my visit June 10-12 and honestly I loved everything about the town and the college itself," he said. "It was all really clean, nice and condensed. It was a true college town, and I really liked that about it." 

The 6-foot-6, 265-pound offensive tackle also indicated Oregon State offensive line coach Jim Michalczik was a major part of his recruitment. 

"Well, that was honestly a huge factor," Anderson said. "I have a great relationship with Coach M, and knowing that he's going to give me the best opportunity to be the best is nice to know."

 In fact, that was his first phone call upon deciding he was ready to commit. 

"I called Coach M on (Sunday night)," Anderson said. "He was extremely happy and told me I needed to call coach (Jonathan) Smith. I called him immediately after and they were all excited I'm going there."
