Photos: Auburn rides walk-off single past Bishop Blanchet in WIAA Class 3A state baseball playoffs

AUBURN, Wash. — Senior Ethan Smetheram hit a walk-off single that scored junior Brendan Stein, lifting Auburn to a 3A regional round baseball playoff win at Auburn High School.
The 7-6 win came in the first day of the WIAA state baseball playoffs, which play loser-out double-headers at regional sites.
Neither Bishop Blanchet (18-9) nor Auburn's baseball teams made it beyond Saturday's regional playoff round. With the win, the 3A NPSL champion Trojans (20-6) booked a date with Mercer Island in the regional quarterfinals, which it lost, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
