Several NBA Rookie Debuts Revealed with Early NBA Schedule

The NBA released a number of marquee games on Tuesday, including the first several days of opening week, as well as Christmas Day games.

With opening night and the ensuing days, several of the top prospects at the 2026 NBA Draft will make their official NBA debuts.

Below are a few NBA rookies debuts among the first two days of the season:

Ebuka Okorie, Pistons

The Pistons desperately need secondary-creation next to superstar Cade Cunningham, and drafted guard Ebuka Okorie for just that. With lightning-quick speed and the ability to handle and play-make, he could be the perfect rotational piece.

Pistons fans will be looking out to see if he's cracked the rotation by Game 1. If so, he'll add a new dynamic in Detroit.

The Pistons will take on the Celtics in the opener, with forward Chris Cenac Jr. potentially making his own debut.

Labaron Philon, 76ers

The 76ers aren’t in the Opening Night primetime slot due to Labaron Philon, but he’ll be a nice addition to one of the most fun teams in the league.

With Jaylen Brown and LeBron James now added to a team with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, VJ Edegcombe and plenty more, the 76ers will be must-see TV.

Philadelphia will take on the defending-champion Knicks at 6 p.m. CT.

Aday Mara and Bennett Stirtz, OKC Thunder

Despite being a contender, the Thunder will be rolling out two new first-round picks, one being a shiny new lottery selection in Aday Mara. Additionally, they’ll add a rotational guard in Bennett Stirtz after losing three to the trade machine this offseason.

Mara stands at 7-foot-4 and should be able to crack the rotation with consistent production. Stirtz has the fast-track to rotational minutes via 3-point shooting and pick-and-roll play-making.

OKC will take on the Spurs on Opening Night, and Denver on Thursday, Oct. 22.

Yaxel Lendeborg, Warriors

The Warriors’ No. 11 pick in Yaxel Lendeborg will be one of the more anticipated rookie debuts in some time for Golden State. The former Michigan champion won Summer League MVP, looking like a five-year NBA veteran in the process.

He should be an immediate plug-and-play forward in the Warriors’ rotation, sliding in alongside Stephen Curry and co.

Cameron Carr, Lakers

The new-look Lakers have use of late-first pick Cameron Carr, who showed off plenty of his skillset across multiple Summer Leagues.

Alongside Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler, Carr will provide 3-point shooting, athleticism, weak-side shot-blocking and more.
