Breaking News: Wizards Lose Key Defender In Delon Wright

Wizards, Delon Wright Agree Upon Buyout

The NBA Allstar Festivities will begin today. However, the Washington Wizards front office is still busy working on the team and making moves as they have their eyes set on this summer to really get busy. Fridays are usually great. However, the Washington Wizards have decided to release a key piece and defender to their team, Delon Wright.

Delon Wright is a contributor to winning basketball. He is a defender that nobody looks forward to playing against. He is a player that makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. Unfortunately, this season has become a wash for the Wizards as they continue to drop in the NBA Eastern Conference Standings. This may have been a business decision and a person relationship decision as the Wizards have given Delon Wright an opportunity to play meaningful basketball this season.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski, it appears Wright will be heading to Miami to play alongside Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat for the remainder of the season.

The Miami Heat are continuing to improve as a team. They will particularly improve on the defensive end as Wright’s on ball defense is top tier in the league as well as his off ball defense too. He will fit the Heat Culture perfectly as he continues to grow as a player on both sides of the ball too. Wright will be missed in Washington as he appeared in 83 games just under two full seasons. As a Wizard, Delon Wright averaged six points per game, three assist per game, with nearly two steals per game as well. Wright was the perfect Wizard to join the team. The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the timing as the Wizards appear to be in a rebuild.
