Lions Signing Amon-Ra St. Brown to Huge Extension, What it Means For Ja'Marr Chase's Bengals Future
Cincinnati can extend Chase this offseason.
CINCINNATI — NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that the Lions inked Amon-Ra St. Brown to a four-year contract extension. The wide receiver gets four years tacked on and more than $120 million total with $77M guaranteed on the deal.
This makes St. Brown the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL (tied with Tyreek Hill) by average annual value ($30 million per year) and the most guaranteed money at the position ($77 million).
The deal is tacked onto St. Brown's $3.36 million 2024 salary in the final year of his rookie contract.
This sets the floor for the Bengals' negotiations with Ja'Marr Chase as he'll surely be looking to eclipse both of those numbers on his new contract. Cincinnati can sign Chase to a new deal this offseason, but history says Chase should wait if he wants to maximize the amount of money he can earn on that second deal.
