Barcelona’s Record Without Lamine Yamal in 2025–26

It’s not the first time Barcelona are without their star playmaker this season.

Barcelona are in the home-stretch of their La Liga title defense, but with just five games remaining, they’ll have to steer the ship to the promised land without the presence of Lamine Yamal.

Yamal is out for the remainder of the season after picking up a hamstring injury in the1–0 win against Celta Vigo. His coolly taken penalty to secure all three points was the last kick of the club season for the brilliant teenager.

Fortunately for Barcelona, they’re tantalizingly close to wrapping the league title, especially since Real Madrid dropped points for the third time in their last four league matches, and Hansi Flick’s men responded with a win at Getafe in their first game without Yamal, opening up an 11-point lead at the summit.

Hansi Flick’s men are almost at the finish line, but a visit to Osasuna up next won’t be a walk in the park considering Alessio Lisci’s side are undefeated at home since Nov. 2025. Without Yamal, the task at hand becomes even harder.

Yet, it must be said, the Catalans have managed to weather the storm whenever Yamal hasn’t been available this season.

Barcelona have fared surprisingly well this season without their No. 10, winning six of the seven matches Yamal has missed this term.

A nagging groin injury sidelined Yamal for five games between September and October, but Flick’s side still handled business for the most part without their star.

Barcelona dismantled Valencia and Getafe at the Estadi Johan Cruyff without Yamal in their first two home games of the term. Sandwiched between those victories was an impressive 2–1 win away against Newcastle United in their Champions League opener.

Wins away against Real Oviedo and Slavia Prague were also collected without the 19-year-old on the pitch. Barcelona were without Yamal for the first time since January in last weekend’s 2–0 win against Getafe, securing three points at the Estadio Coliseum for the first time this decade to almost get one hand on the La Liga title.

In 2024–25, though, Barça could only win two of the five games played without Yamal, losing the same amount and drawing another.

The only defeat Barcelona endured this term without Yamal on the pitch was a 4–1 humiliation at the hands of Sevilla just prior to the October international break, with another crucial absence also contributing to the result.

Prior to the win away at Getafe at the weekend, the lopsided defeat against Sevilla in October was the only game this season Barcelona had been without both Yamal and fellow star winger Raphinha.

In fact, a 4–0 win against lower-tier side UD Barbastro in the 2024–25 Copa del Rey round of 32 is the only other game since the start of the Flick era where Barça were without the prolific duo.

Overcoming Getafe in rather comfortable fashion without Yamal and Raphinha makes the Barça’s performance all the more impressive. The Brazilian should be entering the final part of his recovery, and he could rejoin training sooner rather than later.

But it’s unlikely Raphinha is ready for Saturday’s trip to Osasuna, meaning that Barcelona will be without their two starting wingers for the third time this season. The Blaugrana will hope their performance is a repeat of the one against Getafe and nothing like the dreadful display at Sevilla six months ago.

Flick must ace his selection of replacements for Saturday’s clash, because achieving a win without their star wing-twins could potentially see Barcelona arrive to El Clásico on May 10th already crowned as back-to-back La Liga champions.
