J.D. Davison Repeats, Named Mr. Basketball in Alabama for Second Straight Year

Calhoun's J.D. Davison as been named the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Mr. Basketball for a second straight year.
The award is presented by Alfa Insurance.
Davison, an Alabama signee who is considered one of the nation's top players, and was recently named a second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated, is the fifth repeat Mr. Basketball winner.
The 6-foot-3 guard was a McDonald's All-American after averaging 32.4 points, 10.9 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season.
Davison, as a junior, averaged 30.3 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
He's a three-time All-State selection and scored 2,709 career points.

Karoline Striplin Named 2020-21 Miss Basketball
Karoline Striplin of Geneva County was named the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Miss Basketball for the 2020-21 season.
The award is presented by Alfa Insurance.
Striplin, a Tennessee signee, is the first Miss Basketball from Geneva County.
The 6-foot-3 senior averaged 26.8 points, 16.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists this season. In 25 games, she also blocked 154 shots and had 105 steals.
Striplin was a four-time Class 2A All-State player and totaled 2,914 points and 2,043 rebounds during her high school career.

Christopher Walsh is the founder and publisher of Alabama Crimson Tide On SI, which first published as BamaCentral in 2018, and is also the publisher of the Boston College, Missouri and Vanderbilt sites. He's covered the Crimson Tide since 2004 and is the author of 26 books including “100 Things Crimson Tide Fans Should Know and Do Before They Die” and “Nick Saban vs. College Football.” He's an eight-time honoree of Football Writers Association of America awards and three-time winner of the Herby Kirby Memorial Award, the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s highest writing honor for story of the year. In 2022, he was named one of the 50 Legends of the ASWA. Previous beats include the Green Bay Packers, Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, along with Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks. Originally from Minnesota and a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, he currently resides in Tuscaloosa.
