Auburn Transfer Aden Holloway to Visit Alabama Basketball

Holloway is a former 5-star who spent one season at Auburn.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball is set to host Auburn transfer guard Aden Holloway on a visit this week, sources confirm to BamaCentral. Tim Watts of BamaOnLine was first to report.

Holloway entered the transfer portal after Auburn's season ended, and started 26 games as a true freshman for Bruce Pearl's SEC tournament-winning squad. He was a 5-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, and averaged 7.3 points and 2.7 assists in his first year of college basketball.

Though he had an up-and-down first season, Holloway flashed the potential that made him a 5-star coming out of high school. He scored 19 points in the season-opener against Baylor, and scored a season-high 24 on 7-of-11 shooting against Indiana.

Point guard is a position of need for Alabama in this transfer portal cycle, with star point guard Mark Sears still having a decision to make between entering the NBA Draft or returning to Alabama for his final season of eligibility. With Aaron Estrada running out of eligibility, and Rylan Griffen and Davin Cosby entering the portal, the Crimson Tide is still looking to add to its guard room.

So far Alabama has added two additions via the transfer portal in Pepperdine guard Houston Mallette and USF guard Chris Youngblood, both of whom averaged more than 14 points per game and shot over 40 percent from three at their previous stops.

Alabama currently has one open roster spot, though more could open in the future with NBA Draft decisions or more transfer portal exits.
