Alabama Football Makes Offer to 3-star ATH Cai Bates

Bates is listed as an athlete, playing both wide receiver and cornerback.

The University of Alabama made 3-star ATH Cai Bates an offer on Thursday, per the junior himself.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect out of Edgewater High School, Orlando, Fla., is ranked as the consensus No. 75 wide receiver and No. 80 prospect in the state.

Bates is listed as an athlete and wide receiver, since he also plays cornerback. He lists himself as WR/DB. The versatility of these positions are evident in his highlights.

Bates' ideal size helps him leap over receivers to break up the pass while on defense and he can make catches over cornerbacks when he's on offense.

As a defensive back, Bates is more of a ball hawk and constantly watches the eyes of the quarterback. He's able to stay with receivers and isn't fazed by double moves.

As a wide receiver, Bates has a good release off the snap and easily gets open on slant and post routes. He has the physicality to consistently make contested catches as well.

According to 247Sports, Bates is a life-long fan of the Crimson Tide and played with Alabama cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry in ninth grade at Pinson Valley High School.

"It’s been a dream school for me since I was a kid," Bates said. "I was always watching the program, looking up to the program, looking at the players they produce. Being able to actually have an opportunity to be a part of that is really big for me."
