The Alabama high school state championships, also known as the Super 7, are a preview of the future of football in Alabama. Recruits grow up dreaming about playing in Bryant-Denny Stadium and Jordan-Hare Stadium, and the Super 7 is where high school players begin to realize those dreams.

For several players, the Super 7 is the last chapter of their high school story and the first chapter of their college story. It's a storybook moment when players can win a state title in their future college stadium, such as when Bo Nix beat the Saraland Spartans in his final season as a Pinson Valley Indian before heading to Auburn as the Tigers starting quarterback.

The state championship games kicked off Wednesday night with the 7A matchup with the Thompson Warriors taking on the Central-Phenix City Red Devils.

After a scoreless first quarter, Central-Phenix City scored early in the second and never looked back. at halftime, Central-Phenix City led 14-3 over Thompson. Running back Tristan Williams had 101 rush yards and two touchdowns in the first half. Thompson made it a one-point game midway through the third quarter, but a 73-yard touchdown to Cam Coleman extended the lead for Central-Phenix City. The Red Devils claimed their third state title in school history, 21-19.

Both Thompson and Central-Phenix City feature Alabama commits and targets. Central Phenix City features two Crimson Tide commits: safety Rydarrius Morgan and defensive lineman Isaia Faga.

Morgan committed to the Crimson Tide on August 9 and has been the leader of the Red Devils' secondary all season. As a three-star recruit, Morgan is the 26th-ranked player in Alabama and the 68th at his position.

Faga committed to Alabama on June 28 and is another senior leader on the defensive side of the ball. A three-star recruit, Faga is the 41st-ranked player in the state and a top 100 player at his position. Faga was a captain for the state championship and had three total tackles and two sacks in the Red Devils' third state title.

For Thompson, they feature two targets for the Crimson Tide: Quarterback Trent Seaborn and safety Anquon Fegans.

Seaborn led Thompson to a state championship in 2021 as an eighth-grader and had the Warriors in the state title game for his second straight year trying to win Thompson's 5th straight championship. On Wednesday, Thompson's dream of a five-peat came to an end. Seaborn completed 21 passes for 205 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Fegans is a four-star safety for the Warriors in the 2025 recruiting class. Fegans's brother, Tre'Quon, was a defensive back for Alabama until he transferred to USC. He picked off Red Devils quarterback Andrew Alford early in the game.
