BYU Basketball 2023 Transfer Portal Tracker

It's transfer portal season in the world of college basketball. Like every other season under Mark Pope, BYU is trying to upgrade its roster through the transfer portal. This article will serve as a transfer portal tracker for the transfers out of the program and the transfers being is recruiting to join the program.
Transfers Out
Two BYU players have entered the transfer portal since the end of the season: walk-on forward Hao Dong and true freshman Braeden Moore. Moore signed with BYU as part of the 2022 signing class and he did not appear in any games last season.

Before Moore's transfer, BYU had just one scholarship available for next season. Now BYU has two scholarships to work with in the transfer portal.
Transfer Portal Targets
1. Steven Ashworth - Utah State
Utah State transfer Steven Ashworth became a priority target as soon as he entered the transfer portal. Ashworth averaged 16.2 points per game last season on 45.8% shooting, leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament. Ashworth prepped nearby at Lone Peak High School.
2. Aly Khalifa - Charlotte
Big man Aly Khalifa is one of the most entertaining bigs in college basketball. Khalifa is an efficient shooter, shooting 51% from the field and 38% from three. He also averages 6.3 rebounds per game, but it is his passing ability that jumps out on film. Khalifa recently visited BYU according to Robby McCombs of Vanquish the Foe. Khalifa would immediately start, and his passing ability could maximize the talents of players like Fousseyni Traore.
3. Dawson Baker - UC Irvine
UC Irvine transfer guard Dawson Baker averaged 15.3 points per game last season. He has trimmed his list of finalists to BYU, Utah, Boise State, and Utah State.
UC Irvine (D1) transfer Dawson Baker told @ThePortalReport he is considering four schools at this time:

4. Joe Girard - Syracuse
After averaging 16.4 points per game last year in the ACC, Syracuse guard Joe Girard entered the transfer portal. Many schools inquired about Girard, but BYU was one of just three schools to earn an in-home visit according to Jon Rothstein. Girard will have in-home visits with BYU, Clemson, and Notre Dame.
Syracuse transfer Joe Girard tells me that he will have in-home visits with the following programs:
