Report: UC Guard John Newman III to Miss Multiple Months Following Knee Surgery
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats are going without one of their best defenders for an extended period of time.
According to multiple reports, graduate guard John Newman III is missing the next couple of months due to surgery on a damaged meniscus.
There is no exact timetable for his return. Newman averaged 6.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and one steal last season.
Expect guys like Jarrett Hensley and Ody Oguama to step up in his place, while freshman forward Josh Reed could possibly see his first bit of playing time very soon in light of this news.
it’s still a mystery whether he will redshirt this season or not.
UC faces Northern Kentucky for their one true road non-conference game in 2022. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+ Wednesday night.
