Weekly NET: Bearcats Slip Down a few Spots After a 1-1 Week

Cincinnati is the third-highest AAC team in the NET rankings.

CINCINNATI — After a 1-1 week on the hardwood, Cincinnati fell two spots in the NET rankings from No. 64 to No. 66. The Bearcats dropped a frustrating game to Temple on Tuesday 61-58 after leading by 12 points going into halftime. They rebounded against ECU in a 60-59 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats are getting close to the halfway mark of their 18-game conference schedule, and they can't afford many more losses sitting on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

Around the rest of the AAC, Houston kept rolling and moved up one spot to No. 2 in the rankings. SMU is the next team sitting at No. 55 after being No. 66 last week.

Memphis is right behind UC at No. 71 after falling five spots this week. Wichita State stayed in place at No. 82, and UCF rounded out the top-100 AAC teams at No. 82, a one-spot fall from last week.

Now UC faces arguably the most important week of the season thus far. They battle No. 71 Memphis on Thursday and No. 2 Houston on Sunday. Both of those games are at home, and a sweep would launch them from a fringe tourney team to an AAC contender.

Cincinnati probably needs at least one win against Houston to earn an at-large bid; getting that done at Fifth Third Arena would be a welcome sight instead of doing it on the Texas road trip to close the season.
