Look: Desmond Ridder Working With Jordan Palmer

The Bearcats legend is preparing for the NFL Draft on the west coast.

CINCINNATI — Desmond Ridder is hard at work preparing for the NFL Draft, and he's working with one of the most well-respected coaches in the sport: Jordan Palmer.

The QB coach is the younger brother of former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer. Jordan played three seasons in the NFL from 2008 to 2014 and now teaches some of the biggest names in the sport.

Palmer was in the news this past offseason while working with current Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The Bengals franchise player has improved his arm strength and overall game under Palmer.

“Joe is a machine,” Palmer said about Burrow to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman. “You gotta give Joe a thing to chase, whether it’s a team or a record, it’s just a challenge. That’s all he needs. He’s so cerebral, and his ability to focus and be present is so incredible. He’s not a guy you throw a ton of things at and try ’em out, and we’ll see. You don’t do gimmicky stuff with him. You give him a thing that is challenging that he believes is gonna make him better, and then once he learns that pattern, then you put him in a position to get out of that pattern and let him self-correct. He’s like a computer.”

The results back up Palmer's thoughts; this season, Burrow became the fourth quarterback in league history to post at least 8.5 yards per attempt and a 70%-plus completion rate. Ridder picked the right tutor; now we'll see how much his teachings can lift Ridder's draft stock.
