Cincinnati WR Tyrin Smith Shares Eclipse Experience, Strengths of his Game

CINCINNATI — The 2024 solar eclipse came and went as new Bearcats wide receiver Tyrin Smith tries to eclipse defenders throughout the 2024 season. The veteran speedster discussed his first eclipse experience, along with how he's trying to impact this team after transferring from UTEP.

He got a Nipp at Nite preview during the day this week.

"It was a great experience to come out here because it was dark, it was dark and then it came out to just be sunny," Smith joked. "So that kind of messed up my brain a little bit. But no, it was a great thing to see, come out here and practice under it."

The 5-foot-7 speedster posted 19 catches for 191 yards and one touchdown in four games last season. In his first two campaigns at UTEP, Smith tallied 104 receptions for 1,609 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Smith has an affinity for the post route as he tries to dice up defenders with crafty route running.

"I feel like route running is one of my top things too," Smith said when describing his favorite drill for sharpening his breaks. "So that's probably one of my favorite drills."
