Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner Impresses in First NFL Game

CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner proved he belongs in his NFL debut with the New York Jets. His team lost 24-9, but Gardner impressed on 35 coverage snaps.
According to PFF, the rookie had two solo tackles in the game while allowing one catch for eight yards and had one pass breakup. His 72.5 PFF grade ranks eighth among 67 cornerbacks to play so far in Week One. The Ravens targeted him three times all afternoon as Lamar Jackson took his aerial assault elsewhere.
NFL NextGen Stats had Gardner allowing two catches for 19 yards in the game, but anyway you slice it, Sauce looked like a top-five pick against one of the better offenses in the NFL.
