Kerry Coombs: ‘I Love Those Kids’

The Bearcats interim head coach is ready to lead the team this month.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcat's interim head football coach is very excited to lead his group throughout bowl season.

Kerry Coombs spoke with Bally Sports about the opportunity this week.

“I'm really looking forward to spending these next few weeks with these players, I love those kids," Coombs said. "These kids this last year have been a fantastic experience for me. They welcomed me with open arms and they deserve our very best as a coaching staff, as a city, as a university. I hope our fans will support them.

“I hope they'll put their arms around them through social media and every way that they can communicate with them. Hopefully, they'll go to the game wherever the game is, whatever the game is, for me, I want them to have an experience that will be memorable for them. And so I'm looking forward to that. I'm excited about that. And that's really what our focus needs to be on the next few weeks.”

Coombs is a Cincinnati football staple having coached at Colerain HS and is fulfilling his second-career stint on the Bearcats staff.

He has reportedly already interviewed for the head coaching position and would be a fantastic coach to retain if he doesn’t get selected.
