Report: UC Cornerbacks Coach Perry Eliano Leaving for job at Ohio State

Eliano played a big role in shaping one of the best secondaries in the country last season.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats football team had a lot of good news coming down the pipeline this week in terms of players returning next year, but the latest update falls on the opposite end of that spectrum.

According to Pete Thamel, UC cornerbacks coach Perry Eliano is taking the safeties coaching position at Ohio State.

Eliano was instrumental in shaping one of the country's best secondaries this past season. Cornerbacks Coby Bryant and Ahmad Gardner were the only All-American CB tandem in the country.

Eliano is also a key voice on the recruiting trail. Incoming secondary pieces like JQ Hardaway, Ken Willis, and Oliver Bridges were all primarily recruited by Eliano. He joined the staff in March of 2020 and helped mold a 2021 defense that finished No. 2 in passing yards allowed (168.3), No. 3 in interceptions (18), and No. 4 in opponent completion % (53.5).
