Report: UC Getting Full Big 12 Revenue Shares One-Year Earlier

The Baylor athletic director laid things out this week.

CINCINNATI — UC athletics is bringing in a full share of Big 12 revenue starting a year earlier in 2024 when the league welcomes Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah as a 16-member outfit.

UPDATE: Baylor AD Mack Rhoades comments were incorrect UC will not get the full revenue share a year early.

Statement from Big 12 via The Athletic's Justin Williams: “The two-year revenue distribution phase-ins for BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF remain unchanged by the Big 12’s expansion to 16 members.”

Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades confirmed the tweak to 365 Sports.

"All 16 of us will be created equal in terms of conference revenue distribution," Rhoades said. "We certainly feel that that's the right model for us. And I know that was really important to all of our members. Not just the four coming in, not just the four that we recently added but even the original eight. We all think that's best for us to have cohesion."

Cincinnati originally wasn't going to receive a full annual payout until the start of the Big 12's new media deal in 2025. Action Network's Brett McMurphy reported that the full 2024 revenue share for all sports is "estimated to be about $42 million" despite being the final year of the old deal.

According to The Orlando Sentinel, UC and the other three new schools are receiving $18 million in 2023. It's still a massive raise over the $7 million figure paid out by the AAC each year.
