CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati had a historic season on the gridiron in 2021, but it wasn't enough to keep fiscal revenue from falling. According to the Cincinnati Business Courier, the University lost 24% of its operating revenue compared to the last fiscal year. The total number checked in at $62.1 million for the year.

Expenses also fell, which meant a loss of just $412,000 in monetary generation after holding a $7.7 million surplus the prior year. Chalk up plenty of the issues to COVID-19 as ticket sales compared to the last fiscal year dropped 92%, from $8 million to $644,000. That was largely due to no fans being allowed in Nippert Stadium during the 2020 season.

UC also had to dip into its endowment to keep sports afloat once everything shut down in March 2020. They provided $30.4 million in support from the endowment.
