Following the offer, his coach (Joe Horeni) and his father (Brian) dove deep into Lansu as a player and person.

“He is a tireless worker,” Horeni stated to All Bearcats. “Some kids are talented and know it. Other kids work hard to earn what they get. Owen is both he is an amazing talent but works like he has to earn it.”

“Physically I don’t think there is any question that his arm talent is and has been for a while at an extremely high level. I think his anticipation and accuracy are well above his age level as well,” His father Brian Lansu stated. “I think it’s his leadership and work ethic which you don’t see on Friday night or Saturday afternoon all the time that separates him. He wants to be the alpha in the program. Even as a freshman, he wanted that. Last year he didn’t get the opportunity. It made him that much hungrier in that offseason to become that guy,”

Owen’s father Brian added. “I think his head coach would agree that that was one of the biggest reasons for their run to the state championship game this season having a young program leader who could back it up.”

Horeni dove deeper into his leadership. “It's tremendous, leads by example, and is vocal when he needs to be. Always organizing the guys to get extra work in. He is also very good at reading a defense I must note. We were down by 11 in the second round. His last two touchdowns in that game were to the fourth read. He is a good student of the game and enjoys the process of it,” said the high school coach.

Talking more about Owen as a person his father Brian did an in-depth dive into Owen off the field.

“He’s a pretty typical kid in terms of his interests outside of football,” said Brian. “He likes to play Xbox online with a group, watch movies, and just hang out with friends. I know he wants to be successful later in life so he is interested in investing and starting just some small businesses in our area to make money.”
