UC Attacks Defense on Recruiting Trail, Offers Four Players

The Bearcats made moves in Tennessee this week.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats built their 2021 College Football Playoff squad through a great defense, but who will make up future editions of the "Blackcats" unit?

We got some insight into who Cincinnati would like to take the mantle this week after they offered scholarships to four defensive players.

Edwin Spillman kicks off the list of 2024-25 recruits that UC wants on its defense.

The Lipscomb Academy linebacker joins Brendan Solis, and Luther Richesson as player's UC's eyeing from the Nashville, Tennessee school. According to Rivals, the 6-foot-2, 196 pounds linebacker has eight offers from schools like Georgia, Ohio State, and South Carolina.

Next is a cornerback the Bearcats would love to groom like Ahmad Gardner and Coby Bryant. Cincinnati offered 2024 four-star corner Kaleb Beasley. Another Lipscomb Academy player, Beasley has 14 offers from the likes of Notre Dame, LSU, and Michigan. He has already visited Vanderbilt and Ole Miss.

Sticking in the Nashville area, Cincinnati also offered 2024 outside linebacker Mason Curtis from Ensworth High School. He boasts four offers from Tennessee, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and UC.

The youngest player Cincinnati offered this week was 2025 defensive end, Ethan Utley. The freshman is teammates with Curtis at Ensworth HS and has one other offer from Vanderbilt.

The Bearcats will try to put on a show for all of these recruits in the Cotton Bowl. Cincinnati battles the Alabama Crimson Tide on Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game is airing on ESPN.
