Former Georgia Offensive Lineman Receives Bonus from Los Angeles Chargers

Former Georgia football and current Los Angeles Charger Jamaree Salyer receives a performance based bonus from his organization.

Former Georgia offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer is on the verge of entering his third season in the NFL. After playing with the Los Angeles Chargers for the last two seasons, the former Bulldog has received a performance based bonus.

Salyer has started 31 games for the Chargers since being drafted and has played in a total of 34. This past season, Salyer primarily played right guard for the Chargers whereas in his first season, he plugged in at left tackle. Salyer’s ability to be a swing player upfront holds extreme value in the league.

According to the performance based pay distribution list, Salyer received the ninth-highest pay bump in the NFL. Salyer received over $840,000 in performance based bonuses from last season which is significant considering his base salary is $870,000. The highest paid name on the list was Baltimore guard John Simpson out of Clemson, who received $974,613 in performance based bonuses this past year.

The Chargers are currently in a transition period as former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh took over the organization this offseason. They hold the fifth overall pick in this year’s NFL draft and they will be looking to find some more players like Salyer, who wasn’t drafted until the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft.
