Utah Jazz Waive Former Hoosier Romeo Langford

In this story:
Former Indiana Hoosiers guard Romeo Langford was waived by the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
Langford approaches his fifth NBA season in 2023-24, but he's yet to carve out a significant role on any team.
The Boston Celtics originally drafted Langford No. 14 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, but he only played 94 games across three seasons for the Celtics. Langford made 11 starts for Boston, but he averaged 3.6 points and 14.7 minutes per game.
Midway through the 2020-21 season, the Celtics traded Langford, Josh Richardson and a first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Derrick White, who's been a key piece to their recent playoff runs. Langford started 21 games and averaged 6.9 points for San Antonio in 2022-23, but the Spurs did not extend a qualifying offer to Langford after the season.
He signed an Exhibit 10 deal – a one-year minimum salary contract – with the Jazz in August, but now he'll look for a new home.
Langford was once considered one of the top basketball prospects in the nation out of New Albany, Ind. He was ranked No. 5 overall by 247 Sports, then chose to stay home and play for the Indiana Hoosiers over finalists Kansas and Vanderbilt.
He played just one season at Indiana under former coach Archie Miller in 2018-19, when the Hoosiers went 19-16 and missed the NCAA Tournament. Langford started all 32 games and led the Hoosiers with 16.5 points per game and 34.1 minutes played. He also added 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on his way to earning second-team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman team honors.
Langford's 16.5 points per game were the most by an Indiana freshman since Eric Gordon in 2007-08, and no first-year Hoosier has since surpassed Langford's mark.
But after being waived by the Jazz on Tuesday, Langford's professional future is unclear as the NBA season begins on Oct. 24.
