Watch: Chris Barclay, Louisville Running Backs Discuss Spring Practice

In this story:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The calendar has now flipped to the month of April, and preparations for the 2026 college football season are in full swing. For Louisville, they're now into the second half of spring ball, and are roughly two weeks away from their annual spring game.
During this time, most position groups have been using this time to not only lay the groundwork for this fall, but also get to know all the new faces. At the running back spot, while there are certainly some new faces, it's arguably got the most continuity on the roster.
For starters, Isaac Brown, one of the top players in the entire sport regardless of position, is running it back after a brief flirtation with the portal. Louisville's second-leading rusher, Keyjuan Brown, is also returning, as is Braxton Jennings - a former walk-on who is now on scholarship.
"It've been awesome, running backs coach Chris Barclay said. "I always appreciate this time of year, just to see the growth of the room. We got some really talented guys coming back that we're excited about, and we've added some talented young guys. Just excited about the growth so far, and continuing to find ways to challenge ourselves."
There are some new faces, as Marquise Davis transferred in from Missouri, and Lekhy Thompkins joins as part of UofL's 2026 recruiting class. The returning players have done an excellent job on helping onboard the two new guys, and when you put them all together, the running back room has been having an excellent spring.
"Anytime you have returning production, proven production, that they can work alongside, and pick their brain, and see exactly how they were able to find success, and how they were able to help the game slow down with them- Obviously, every player is different, and they have different strengths and weaknesses, but to have someone in the room that can help you navigate those challenges as a new guy, that helps a lot." Barclay said.
On Thursday, Barclay, Isaac Brown, Keyjuan Brown and Braxton Jennings took time to meet with the media. They discussed the first couple weeks of spring practice, what specifically each player is working on this offseason, and more.
