In this story:

The Miami Hurricanes begin their 2023 college football season versus the Miami of Ohio RedHawks. It’s a chance at redemption after a disappointing 2022 campaign that saw the Canes go 5-7.

Leading into this first contest, there’s much optimism regarding the Hurricanes. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is healthy, the Transfer Portal is presenting 16 new players, and the 2023 Miami recruiting class is one of the nation’s best.

Can Miami corral all of its talent and become a cohesive team? The beginning of finding that out begins with the first game. Here are the details:

The Rundown

The Canes need to come out and play sound football, above all else. Mistakes and mental errors will not cut it this season. There’s far more talent than last season, and the roster possesses more talent position to position.

It’s also a chance to prove the naysayers wrong. Many people still do not believe The U will be a quality team this season. That extra motivation certainly will not hurt. Talking specifically, the Canes should see certain areas be much better.

With Matt Lee (UCF) and Javion Cohen (Alabama) coming to Coral Gables via the Transfer Portal, the offensive line will be better. The secondary has multiple players that also came from other schools like Davonte Brown (UCF) and Jadais Richard (Vanderbilt) that can make impacts.

Regardless of how each Miami player ended up on the roster, this team can also really run. There’s speed across the board. Big plays for the Canes should be a norm. Now, can all of that come together versus the RedHawks? Everyone will find out Friday night.
