Notre Dame Enters Top 10 In AP College Football Poll
Notre Dame entered the top 10 in this week’s Associated Press college football poll. The Fighting Irish (2-0) are up three spots at No. 10 in the week one rankings. They are one of two teams in the top 10 with a pair of wins after playing in week zero.
Georgia and Michigan remain No. 1 and 2 at the top of the poll this week. The two-time defending national champion Bulldogs received 58 first-place votes while the Wolverines garnered two first-place votes.
Alabama is up one spot to No. 3 while Florida State joins the top five by moving up four spots to No. 4 after Sunday night’s 45-24 upset of then No. 5 LSU. Brian Kelly’s Tigers tumbled all the way to No. 14 after the loss to the Seminoles. Ohio State falls two spots to No. 5 this week after struggling to beat Indiana 23-3 in its week one season opener. Southern California, Penn State, Washington, Tennessee and Notre Dame complete the top 10.
Ohio State at No. 5 and USC at No. 6 are the two highest ranked teams among the four Fighting Irish opponents in this week’s AP top 25. Duke joins the poll at No. 21 after Monday night’s upset of former No. 9 Clemson. The Tigers plummeted all the way to No. 25 after the loss.
Duke and Colorado are the two new teams in this week’s poll. The Buffaloes upset then No. 17 Texas Christian to open the season on Saturday in the debut of head coach Deion Sanders. The Horned Frogs fell out of the top 25 with the loss.
