Prince Kollie Enters The Transfer Portal

In this story:
In a move that has been expected for weeks, Notre Dame junior linebacker Prince Kollie has entered the transfer portal. He is the second rising junior to jump in the portal in the last week, as Kollie joins classmate Lorenzo Styles.
Kollie was a crucial member of the Fighting Irish special teams this past season, and his scoop and score of a blocked punt gave Notre Dame a 7-0 lead against Clemson. Kollie also blocked a punt against Stanford and he was a key member of the coverage units on special teams.
The Tennessee native was a rotation player at linebacker, racking up 33 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks the last two seasons. Heading into the spring he was competing for a spot in the two-deep, where he was going to battle Marist Liufau and some talented young players for a linebacker role.
Sophomores Nolan Ziegler and Jaylen Sneed, and freshmen Drayk Bowen and Jaiden Ausberry were all competing with Kollie for playing time. Injuries kept him off the field for much of the spring, but even before spring practice began multiple sources informed Irish Breakdown that Kollie was likely to transfer, so this did not come as a surprise.
Notre Dame could consider going into the portal to fill his spot, but the Irish seem to be in good position at linebacker even with Kollie departing. All three starters return and the aforementioned younger players are also there and ready to jump into key roles after strong springs. Notre Dame also welcomes Princeton walk-on transfer Cole Aubrey and freshman walk-on Luke Talich showing up this summer. Talich is a talented player that earned scholarship offers from Utah and Washington State, but he turned those offers down to come to Notre Dame as a walk-on.
