Notre Dame Commit Roundup: Irish Commits Dominate In Week One

In this story:
Notre Dame got their season off to a great start on Saturday, defeating Navy by a score of 42 to 3 in their matchup in Dublin. The future of Irish football looks very bright, including the various commits still playing in high school.
There were a lot of Notre Dame commits in action over the last couple of days, including several making season debuts. Let’s take a look at some of the finest performances from the week.
QB CJ CARR, SALINE (Mich.) HIGH SCHOOL
RESULT: Saline 42, Brighton 3
On Friday, the Saline (Mich.) High School Hornets opened their season with a 42-3 drubbing of the Brighton Bulldogs. As if that final score wasn’t impressive enough, it also came against a Brighton squad that went 8-2 last season. The main attraction, of course, was star 2024 quarterback and Notre Dame commit CJ Carr.
Carr was impressive during the opening victory against Brighton, completing 21 of 28 passes for 309 yards and two total touchdowns. Carr began the day by completing 14 of his first 16 passes overall.
I went in depth on Carr’s opening season performances, including some clips and analysis.
RB KEDREN YOUNG, LUFKIN (Texas) HIGH SCHOOL
Result: Lufkin 31, Tyler Legacy 7
Young, who is one of the top running backs in the 2024 recruiting class, powered Lufkin to a big victory on Friday. On the day, the talented runner ran for 149 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, averaging an impressive 8.3 yards per carry.

Absolute stud. Has a case to be the best running back in the nation, in my opinion.

His first touchdown of the 2023 season came from 68 yards out, showing off his impressive burst for a runner his size. Young also added two touchdown runs of 11 and eight yards during the contest.
RB ANEYAS WILLIAMS, HANNIBAL (Mo.) HIGH SCHOOL
Result: Helias 49, Hannibal 13
It was a game to forget for Hannibal, who was demolished by Helias by a score of 49-13. That was despite a solid performance from Williams, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown on just 19 carries. The Pirates will hope to rebound next Friday against Jefferson City (1-0).
RB JUSTIN THURMAN (2025), TAMPA BAY (Fla.) JESUIT
RESULT: Jesuit 34, Wharton 20
Thurman and the talented Jesuit squad got the season off to a great start on Friday, defeating Wharton by a score of 34-20. It was a quiet day for Thurman but they were bolstered offensively by junior wide receiver Willy Suarez, who scored three touchdowns that covered 225 yards.
Next Friday, Jesuit (1-0) will travel to Treasure Coast (1-0).
WR CAM WILLIAMS, GLEN ELLYN (Ill.) GLENBARD SOUTH
RESULT: Glenbard South 56, Aurora 21
It was a historic day for Williams, who accounted for five of the eight touchdowns that Glenbard South scored during their 56-21 victory over Aurora. That included three touchdowns receiving and two more as a kick returner. Williams showcased just how special he is.

That means if Glenbard South plays in the same amount of games as last season, Williams would be on pace for 55 touchdowns as a senior. No pressure Cam!
WR MICAH GILBERT, CHARLOTTE (N.C.) CHRISTIAN
RESULT: Charlotte Christian 34, Catawba Ridge 13
After a solid first outing in their first game, Gilbert really showed out for Charlotte Christian in their 34-13 victory over Catawba Ridge. Gilbert led the talented offense, hauling in seven receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
The senior pass catcher made his impact felt on all levels of the field. As a catch point player, after the catch and as a route runner, Gilbert was special on Friday night.

WR LOGAN SALDATE, SALINAS (Calif.) PALMA
Result: Palma 41, Soledad 12
Overshadowed by Carr’s performance, Saldate also had a tremendous outing on Thursday. During the team’s 41-12 victory over Soledad, the senior collected six receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

Saldate’s explosiveness was on full display. The former Oregon State commit could very well end up being a massive steal for the Irish.
TE JACK LARSEN, CHARLOTTE (N.C.) CATHOLIC
RESULT: Charlotte Catholic 49, Northern Durham 0
Another week, another touchdown for Larsen. He now has four touchdowns through the first two weeks, including a 39 yarder this week.
Charlotte Catholic was absolutely dominant on Friday. They defeated Northern Durham by a score of 49-0. The Cougars will travel this Friday to take on Providence Day for a massive showdown.
OL ANTHONIE KNAPP, ROSWELL (Ga.) HIGH SCHOOL
RESULT: Roswell 71, Centennial 7
The Roswell offense was unstoppable on Saturday, led by Knapp. They totaled 445 total yards and 71 points during their dominant showing against Centennial. Roswell will take on an extremely talented Marietta (1-1) on Friday.
OL STYLES PRESCOD, FISHERS (Ind.) HAMILTON SOUTHEASTERN
RESULT: Hamilton Southeastern 35, North Central 7
Hamilton Southeastern continued their momentum on Friday, defeating North Central by a score of 35-7. The offense continued their dominance, led by Prescod at left tackle.
The Royals will travel to Avon (0-2) on Friday night.
DE BRYCE YOUNG, CHARLOTTE (N.C.) CHRISTIAN
RESULT: Charlotte Christian 34, Catawba Ridge 13
Yount continued his dominant start during the team’s 34-13 victory over Catawba Ridge. He finished the contest with 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. The explosiveness he possesses with his frame is pretty rare. Young’s upside is impressive.
DE LOGHAN THOMAS, LAKEWOOD (Ohio) ST. EDWARD
RESULT: St. Edward 28, Good Counsel 7
For the second straight week, St. Edward dominated on the field and came out with a big victory. This time was a decisive 28-7 victory over a very strong Good Counsel squad.
The defense, led by Thomas, has only surrendered 17 points the first two weeks of the season. It is an impressive, and fast, group.
DT SEAN SEVILLANO JR., CLEARWATER (Fla.) ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL
RESULT: Columbus 28, Clearwater Academy 21
Despite a dominant effort by Sevillano, including several sacks and tackles for loss, Clearwater Academy fell to Columbus by a score of 28-21. That was the team’s second straight loss to start the year.

The Knights will travel to Edgewater (1-0) on Friday.
DT DAVION DIXON (2025), MIAMI (Fla.) PALMETTO
RESULTS: Miami Palmetto 13, Homestead 12
It was a tough and hard fought victory for Homestead by a score of 13-12. It was tough speeding against a talented Miami Palmetto defense, led by Dixon on the inside.
The Panthers will travel to Lakewood (0-1) on Friday.
LB KYNGSTONN VILIAMU-ASA, BELLFLOWER (Calif.) ST. JOHN BOSCO
RESULTS: St. John Bosco 20, St. Thomas Aquinas 7
In typical St. John Bosco fashion, they traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas to take on the perennial power on Saturday. On ESPN, the Braves came out on top by a score of 20-7.
Ummmm….🤔 #Nope pic.twitter.com/DRj99wbUrB
— Bosco Football (@boscofootball) August 27, 2023
The defending national champions are led on defense by Viliamu-Asa. The senior linebacker is a playmaker for one of the best defenders in the 2024 recruiting class. There should be no surprise that St. John Bosco's defense put together a tremendous performance.
LB BODIE KAHOUN, ROANOKE (Va.) PATRICK HENRY
RESULT: Patrick Henry 58, Brookville 25
In their opening game of the season, Patrick Henry got off to a strong start against Brookville, coming out with a 58-25 victory. Kahoun starred on the middle of the defense for the team, as well as playing both tight end and fullback for the offense.
On Friday, the team will travel to Glass (1-0).
LB TEDDY REZAC, OMAHA (Neb.) WESTSIDE
RESULT: Westside 57, Creighton 7
It was a dominant victory for Westside, who is coming off of two-straight state championships. Rezac didn’t play any of the second half due to the massive margin. He ended the game with three total tackles and one catch on offense.
The talented squad will take on Grand Island (1-0) on Friday night.
CB KARSON HOBBS, CINCINNATI (Ohio) ARCHBISHOP MOELLER
RESULTS: Archbishop Moeller 57, Bishop Dwenger 0
After a disappointing opening season lost to Ben Davis last week, Archbishop Moeller got back to their winning ways on Friday. They dismantled Bishop Dwenger by a score of 57-0.

— Coach (E)dwards (@ZachEdwards_) August 26, 2023
Hobbs was rarely challenged in this contest. In total, Dwenger threw at him twice and were unsuccessful both times. This was Hobbs’ first game out of the cast after having off-season thumb surgery.
CB LEONARD MOORE, ROUND ROCK (Texas) HIGH SCHOOL
RESULT: Weiss 37, Round Rock 7
Rock Rock got off to a tough start on Friday, falling to Weiss by a 37-7 margin. Moore and the squad look to bounce back on Friday when they take on Reagan (1-0) at home. Moore is hoping to build off of a great junior campaign, intercepting three interceptions and nine pass breakups.
S KENNEDY URLACHER, CHANDLER (Ariz.) HIGH SCHOOL
RESULT: Chandler 56, Cesar Chavez 6
The Chandler Wolves were laser focused coming into their matchup against Cesar Chavez. They are led by Urlacher, who is serving as one of the team captains for the team.
The team got off to a strong start on Friday, defeating Cesar Chavez by a score of 56-6 in dominant fashion. Urlacher’s stat line was nothing impressive this week, not playing much in the second half.
S TAEBRON BENNIE-POWELL, WEST CHESTER (Ohio) LAKOTA WEST
RESULT: Princeton 18, Lakota West 3
For the second straight week, Lakota West wasn’t able to muster much offensively. Luckily, their defense has been excellent through two weeks, led by Bennie-Powell. The senior safety had several impressive stops in the run game and two pass breakups during the loss.
Lakota West hopes to get back into the win column on Friday when they travel to Fairfield (0-2).
S BRAUNTAE JOHNSON, FORT WAYNE (Ind.) NORTH SIDE
RESULT: Lawrence North 35, North Side 13
Unfortunately Johnson was not available for North Side due to a lower leg injury, which isn’t considered serious. In his absence, the Legends fell 35-13 to Lawrence North. The talented two-way star is expected to be back by week three.
