Notre Dame Commits Set For Week One Of Action

After an entertaining first week of football, even more teams are ready to get their seasons kicked off over the next couple of days. That includes a long list of Notre Dame commits, which should keep everyone entertained all weekend.

Here are all the games to keep a close eye on. Once again the future of Notre Dame football will be well represented, and ready to make a massive impact.

RB KEDREN YOUNG, Lufkin (Texas) High School

Matchup: Lufkin (0-0) vs Tyler Legacy (0-0) (Lufkin, Texas)

Game Time: Friday (8/25) at 7:30 PM ET

Young is coming off of a dominant junior campaign, rushing for 1,751 yards and 19 touchdowns. Young also averaged an impressive 7.39 yard per carry average. The senior is set to be the engine of the Lufkin offense once again. They are coming off of a 6-4 overall record in 2022.

RB ANEYAS WILLIAMS, Hannibal (Mo.) High School

Matchup: Hannibal (0-0) at Helius (0-0) (Jefferson City, Mo.)

There aren’t many better all-around running backs in the 2024 recruiting class than Williams. As a runner, receiver and returner, the Missouri native can make a play anywhere on the field. Williams is set to cap off a dominant high school career, beginning with this first game against Helius.

RB JUSTIN THURMAN (2025), Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit

Matchup: Jesuit (0-0) vs Wharton (0-0) (Tampa Bay, Fla.)

After playing a complimentary role as a sophomore, Thurman is set to be a difference maker as a junior. The Florida speedster is one of the fastest players in the 2025 class and has a chance to take it the difference every time he touches the football. Wharton must keep tabs on him at all times.

WR CAM WILLIAMS, Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South

There’s a legitimate argument that Williams could be the best player in the Notre Dame 2024 class. He is fresh off of a dynamic season as a junior, hauling in 47 receptions for 1,022 yards and 13 touchdowns. Williams is the type of wide receiver who can make his impact felt on every level of the field.

WR MICAH GILBERT, Charlotte (N.C.) Christian

Matchup: Charlotte Christian (1-0) at Catawba Ridge (1-0) (Fort Mill, S.C.)

Gilbert is coming off of a rock solid first game performance against Myers Park, hauling in five receptions for 65 yards. The senior pass catcher excelled after the catch last Friday for the team. He will need to continue to make an impact for an offense fresh off of a 40 point outing in the opener.

TE JACK LARSEN, Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic

Matchup: Charlotte Catholic (1-0) vs North Durham (0-1) (Charlotte, N.C.)

Larsen hauled in three touchdown receptions during Charlotte Catholic’s decisive 49 to 14 victory over South Mecklenburg last week. All the North Carolina star does is make plays. They should continue against a less than stellar North Durham squad.

OT ANTHONIE KNAPP, Roswell (Ga.) High School

Matchup: Roswell (1-0) at Centennial (0-1) (Roswell, Ga.)

Game Time: Friday (8/25) at 7:30 PM ET

Knapp and his Roswell squad got off to a fast start last week, defeating Denmark by a score of 41 to 0. That final score was not fully indicative of how decisive the victory, holding a 34 to 0 lead at halftime. Knapp could have opened an IHOP with how many pancakes he was serving up during that one.

OT STYLES PRESCOD, Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern

Matchup: Hamilton Southeastern (1-0) at North Central (Indianapolis, Ind.)

After gaining 20 pounds this off-season, Prescod looked a lot more physically imposing in their first game last week, defeating Carroll by a score of 28 to 14. Prescod was a raw, yet talented, offensive tackle recruit when he committed to Notre Dame a couple months ago. So far he has shown nice growth early on in the season.

DE BRYCE YOUNG, Charlotte (N.C.) Christian

Last week against Myers Park, Young looked like a man amongst boys. He finished that contest with two sacks, another tackle for loss and fumble recovery in their 40 to 37 victory. If Young is able to stack performances like that, he could potentially rise quickly in the 2024 rankings.

DE LOGHAN THOMAS, Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward

Matchup: St. Edward vs Good Counsel (Lakewood, Ohio)

Game Time: Sunday (8/27) at 1:00 PM ET

Thomas was absolutely dominant during the team’s 24 to 10 victory over Indiana power Center Grove last week. Now they will host Good Counsel, which is an outstanding team from Maryland. St. Edward, who is coming off back-to-back state championships, will be counted upon to make a huge impact defensively.

DT SEAN SEVILLANO, Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International

Sevillano is one of the most productive defensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class nationally. Clearwater Academy International will be depending on him as a playmaker and leader. He is a massive man on the interior with some surprising first step quickness.

DT DAVION DIXON (2025), Miami (Fla.) Palmetto

Matchup: Miami Palmetto (0-0) at Homestead (0-0) (Homestead, Fla.)

Game Time: Friday (8/25) at 7:30 PM ET

The first member of the 2025 recruiting class, Dixon made the move to Miami Palmetto this off-season. A massive defensive lineman with surprising backfield production, the team will be depending on Dixon to make plays both at and behind the line of scrimmage in this game.

LB KYNGSTONN VILIAMU-ASA, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Matchup: St. John Bosco (1-0) at St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.)

Game Time: Saturday (8/26) at 4:00 PM ET

It was business as usual for Viliamu-Asa during the team’s 42 to 22 victory over Liberty last week. He was fast, quick and explosive, making plays all over the field for the Braves. His next challenge Will be against St. Thomas Aquinas, who is always one of the more talented teams in the country.

LB BODIE KAHOUN, Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry

Kahoun is one of the more anticipated recruits to watch as a senior. The 6-2, 220-pound linebacker is still very new to the position but brings a great frame and really nice overall athleticism. He promises to make a lot of plays from the middle of the Patrick Henry defense.

LB TEDDY REZAC, Omaha (Neb.) Westside

Matchup: Westside (0-0) vs Creighton Prep (0-0) (Omaha, Neb.)

Long and athletic, Rezac will play everything from safety, linebacker and wide receiver for the defending state champions. That versatility is something that Notre Dame is very excited about. You can expect him to flex that impact on Friday.

CB LEONARD MOORE, Round Rock (Texas) High School

Matchup: Round Rock (0-0) vs Pflugerville (Texas) Weiss (0-0) (Round Rock, Texas)

There might not be a more underrated cornerback in the 2024 recruiting class than Moore. Long limbed and smooth, Moore has the type of profile that could excel either to the field or in the boundary on the next level. He will be counted upon to take away the best wide receiver on the field all game, and season.

CB KARSON HOBBS, Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller

Matchup: Archbishop Moeller (0-1) vs Bishop Dwenger (0-1) (Cincinnati, Ohio)

The talented Archbishop Moeller squad got a rude awakening last Friday when Ben Davis blasted them 49 to 28. They look to rebound against Bishop Dwenger, who is traditionally a very good program in the state of Indiana. Hobbs had a rock solid first game of the season and will be castless in this outing, hoping for a monster game.

S KENNEDY URLACHER, Chandler (Ariz.) High School

Matchup: Chandler (0-0) at Cesar Chavez (0-0) (Laveen, Ariz.)

Game Time: Friday (8/25) at 10 PM ET

Urlacher hits like a ton of bricks on film. He is the type of safety who is out there to set the tone and really make his presence felt. Making a bigger impact in pass coverage is going to be a point of emphasis for Urlacher, who has a great opportunity to show his all around game as a senior.

S TAEBRON BENNIE-POWELL, West Chester (Ohio) Lakota West

Matchup: Lakota West (0-1) vs Princeton (1-0) (West Chester, Ohio)

In a hard fought 10 to 0 loss to St. Xavier last week, Bennie-Powell showed a lot of promise manning his traditional safety position. That came after playing a rover role as a junior, playing mostly as an outside linebacker and edge player more often than not. His impact will have to be felt against Princeton to get back in the win column.

S BRAUNTAE JOHNSON, Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side

Matchup: North Side (0-1) at Lawrence North (1-0) (Indianapolis, Ind.)

Game Time: Friday (8/25) at 7:00 PM ET

North Side is looking to get back on track after a 26 to 13 loss to Northridge last week. Unfortunately Johnson will be sidelined for the second straight game. He is expected back for week three while he recovers from a lower leg injury.
