Notre Dame Is A Top Two School For Texas Receiver Daylan McCutcheon

In this story:
Wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey coming to South Bend has paid huge dividends for Notre Dame early on. Stuckey will get to prove his coaching chops in 2023, but he's already thriving on the recruiting trail, especially in Texas after landing 2023 standouts Braylon James, Jaden Greathouse and Kaleb Smith.
In the 2025 recruiting class, Stuckey and the Irish staff again could tap into that Lone Star State pipeline. One of the top pass catchers on the board is Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy standout Daylan McCutcheon, who has already managed to make a trip to campus.
Despite a long list of impressive suitors, Notre Dame is sitting as one of the top two schools for the Texas standout.
"Oklahoma and Notre Dame are the two schools that have stood out most so far,” McCutcheon told Irish Breakdown. "Both programs bring a lot to the table .... There’s nothing planned in terms of visits but I should be planning some soon. I’m excited to keep building relationships with some of the schools.”
The work that Stuckey is putting in has been well received by recruits. That includes McCutcheon, who is very high on what he could develop into in South Bend.
"My relationship with Notre Dame is developing really well so far,” explained McCutcheon. "Coach Stuckey is a really cool person and someone that I know can develop me. I try to stay in contact with them every other week right now. They’re just really easy people to have a conversation with.”
Coach Stuckey also isn’t the only reason that McCutcheon is so high on the Irish. They have remained authentic and consistent so far with the talented Texas pass catcher.
"One thing that stands out about Notre Dame is that they’re a school that not only helps make it pro but can also help me outside of football,” he said. "They can help you apply for jobs and be a success outside of the field. Their main message is to stay focused and be consistent with everything you do. They just want me to enjoy every part of the process along the way.”
McCutcheon has already begun pulling in a series of impressive offers so far. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include Notre Dame, Miami, Oklahoma, Penn State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Baylor, West Virginia, Purdue and Cal among others.
The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher is considered a consensus four-star recruit and he ranks as the No. 100 player in the country on the On3 consensus rankings.
