Notre Dame Recruiting Roundup - July 30th

It has been a busy, busy week in Notre Dame recruiting. On Sunday, the Irish staff was setting to host their “Grill and Chill” recruiting cookout, welcoming over 30 key recruits to the campus from the 2024 and 2025 classes.

That is a week after Notre Dame got a massive commitment in the 2024 class in California linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. They also welcomed a very important 2025 target to campus even before this weekend began.

Let’s recap all the latest recruiting news. There has been a lot, with even more on the horizon.

LATEST IN RECRUITING

The Irish staff has really outdone itself in terms of the amount of talent expected on campus for the cookout. It’s a long list with some ridiculous talent. For updates over the next couple of days on the visitors, make sure you are subscribed to the Irish Breakdown premium message board.

Arguably the top offensive player on campus is 2025 Geneva (Ill.) Community wide receiver Talyn Taylor, who is making his return visit to South Bend. Notre Dame is in a really good early spot, although the talented pass catcher is in no rush to make a commitment.

Everyone always hyper focuses on “commit watches” and there are certainly a couple players to keep a close eye on. One player to keep a close eye on, however, for a potential offer being extended is 2025 Overland Park (Kan.) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive lineman Julian “Juju” Marks. He is arguably one of the big riser amongst any defensive lineman in the 2025 class.

Marks isn’t the only talented 2025 recruit without an offer making the trip on Sunday. Noblesville (Ind.) High School pass rusher Israel Oladipupo is set to make the return trip to campus after camping this summer. He has only been playing football for one year, offering a ton of upside to build off of.

With Viliamu-Asa opting for the Irish over Ohio State and USC, it presented one of the biggest wins of the 2024 cycle for Notre Dame. According to St. John Bosco Head Coach Jason Negro, the Irish program is getting a “unicorn.”

Now that the three-man linebacker group in 2024 is solidified, Notre Dame can now set their eyes on the 2025 recruiting class. It is an exceptionally talented board with a ton of upside.

DEUCE KNIGHT VISITS NOTRE DAME

On Wednesday night, 2025 Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight made the trip back to South Bend for the first time since April 1st. Knight spent the majority of Thursday on campus, touring, talking with coaches, watching practice and more.

Notre Dame continues to separate themselves for the dynamic signal caller. Maintaining momentum during the fall is going to be big for the staff.

RECRUITING UPDATES

Over the last week, the Irish Breakdown staff has been putting out several recruiting updates on some important targets on the board in the 2025 class. In a recent interview with Sonna Young, the mother of 2024 running back commit Kedren Young, she gave some insight into their relationship with Notre Dame and biggest reasons for selecting the Irish over a long list of impressive offers.

The defensive line class in 2025 is an embarrassment of riches. One of the players that Notre Dame has made a tremendous impact with early on is Richmond (Va.) Huguenot standout Samuel Cohen.

He gave some insight into his developing relationship with the Irish staff.

It’s quite possible that 2025 Monroe (N.C.) High School athlete Jordan Young may be the most talented safety on the board, as well as one of the elite defenders in the class. Young is a tremendously talented athlete, who his Head Coach Johnny Sowell could be the best player to ever come out of their program.

One of the more gifted athletes on the 2025 board is Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek defender Anthony Williams.

The 6-4, 205-pound athlete could potentially play multiple linebacker spots or vyper down the line. Notre Dame is recruiting him hard early on.

Arguably the most anticipated senior season from a Notre Dame commit is 2024 Roanoke (Va.) Patrick Henry star Bodie Kahoun. With limited experience at linebacker, Kahoun is expecting a big time final season.
