Oklahoma Adds Quarterback to 2023 Class

In this story:
Oklahoma has a returning starter coming back in 2023 and one of the top high school prospects in the nation already in the fold.
But that didn’t stop offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby from adding to the Sooners’ quarterback room on National Signing Day.
Lebby on Wednesday added Carson Horton, a QB from Dayton High School in Dayton, TX. Horton announced his commitment to OU via Twitter.
Extremely excited to announce I’ll be joining @OU_Football this fall! Thank you @Coach_Leb for this amazing opportunity!! BOOMER‼️ #OUDNA pic.twitter.com/WVItrwPmoP

Horton is a member of the 2023 recruiting class. It is believed he will be a preferred walk-on at OU.
The Sooners have starter Dillon Gabriel back for his senior year and freshman Jackson Arnold, a 5-star recruit, in for 2023, as well as backups Davis Beville and General Booty.
But they’re also down numbers-wise after Nick Evers (December), walk-ons Ben Harris (last May) and Ralph Rucker (December), and former Penn State transfer Micah Bowens (last week) all left via the transfer portal.
According to MaxPreps, Horton threw for 2,072 yards and 22 touchdowns with six interceptions during his senior season at Dayton. He completed 126 of 241 passes (52.3 percent). He also rushed 80 times for 505 yards and four touchdowns.
In leading Dayton to a 7-4 record and a trip to the playoffs, his highlight was a 49-0 win over Galena Park, in which he threw for 364 yards on 18-of-23 passing and four touchdowns.
