USC Trojans Land Commitment From Coveted Ole Miss Football, LSU Tigers Target

In this story:
Lake Charles (La.) three-star running back Javon Vital is Los Angeles bound after announced a commitment to Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans on Thursday afternoon, he revealed via social media.
Vital checks in as a Top-20 prospect in the Bayou State with multiple contenders emerging for the coveted offensive weapon that has shined on the prep scene.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder tallied over 3,000 all-purpose yards and 46 total touchdowns as a sophomore where he emerged as a national prospect.
Vital pieced together 1,500 yards and 25 scores on the ground with offers galore rolling in from the likes of the LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, and UCLA Bruins - ultimately selecting the Trojans despite a late push from the coaching staff in Oxford.
"Multi-phase playmaker who could play from the slot or the backfield at the next level.- Extensive reps at quarterback, receiver, and kick returner. Creative runner who can string moves, stack cuts, and slip through arm tackles. Displays subtle speed-changing awareness when pressing blocks or entering run lanes," 247Sports wrote of Vital's game.
"Natural downfield pass-catching ability fostered by body control. Above average acceleration with requisite top-end gear. Athleticism in pads supported by verified numbers in track and field. Lacks ideal mass for an every-down back, but tightly-wound build aids run strength and contact balance.

"Projects to the P4 level as a versatile offensive weapon who could become a big-play threat from a variety of alignments."
Ole Miss running backs coach Frank Wilson emerged as a primary recruiter for Vital after he arrived as the position coach towards the end of December.
Once on staff, Wilson immediately made his way to Lake Charles (La.) to meet with Vital for an in-person visit where he then extended an offer his way following a quick trip to the Bayou State.
Now, a commitment to the USC Trojans is public after Riley and Co. turned up the heat this offseason where Vital made his way to California for an unofficial visit just weeks ago.
