Oregon's Evan Stewart Gives a Clear Assessment on Dakorien Moore

Oregon Ducks wide receiver Evan Stewart will be making his long awaited return when the Ducks kick off their 2026 season against the Boise State Broncos on Sept. 5 at Autzen Stadium.

Stewart missed all of the 2025 season with a torn patellar tendon injury and will be joining a talented receivers room in Eugene in 2026. One of the talented wide receivers that will be looking to have a breakout season is Dakorien Moore.

Dakorien Moore signed with Oregon as a member of their 2025 high school recruiting class. Moore was rated as a five-star recruit and ranked as the No.1 wide receiver in his class.

As a true freshman for the Ducks in 2025, Moore hauled in 34 receptions for 497 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games played.

Evan Stewart spoke to reporters on Monday about what he’s seen out of Moore going into this season.

“Dakorien is just being coachable, just still growing into his maturity, and he's a dynamic player, as we know,” Stewart said. “So it's really just honing in on his talents and building every single day is what I've seen, and that's what he's doing.”

With the amount of talent Moore has and a year of experience now under his belt at the college level, he is a prime candidate to be Oregon's most improved player this season. Having veteran players around him like Stewart will only help his development.

Evan Stewart began his collegiate football career with the Texas A&M Aggies in 2022. He played at Texas A&M from 2022-2023, hauling in 91 receptions for 1,163 yards and six touchdowns in 18 games. Following the 2023 season, he entered the portal and transferred to Oregon.

As a junior in 2024, his first season as a Duck, Stewart had 48 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns. As he was preparing to get ready for his senior year, he suffered a devastating torn pattelar tendon injury. This injury kept Stewart out for the entire 2025 season.

Now he'll be back for what the Oregon team and fans hope will be a memorable year.

The Ducks have made the College Football Playoff in each of the past two seasons, getting eliminated in both of these trips by the eventual national champions. Oregon lost the quarterfinal to the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2024 and the semifinal to the Indiana Hoosiers in 2025.

Some good news for Oregon is that they will not have to make a quarterback change as starting quarterback Dante Moore decided to return to Oregon for another season. Moore was projected to be a top five pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but he opted to run it back in Eugene. Will he close out his collegiate career with a national championship?

The Ducks certainly have the pieces to do so as coach Dan Lanning enters his fifth season at the helm.
