In this story:

Still removing itself from the loss of Jordan Addison and the illegal tampering suspicions around the transfer, the Pitt Panthers nearly lost another player who was offered deals before hitting the portal.

Pitt's senior linebacker SirVocea Dennis told Trib Live's Jerry DiPaola that he was approached by multiple schools during the offseason, trying to convince him to transfer this spring.

"I had a couple (contacts)," Dennis said. "I wasn’t worried about it. I’m here now."

Thankfully, for the Panthers, Dennis has no intentions of leaving the program, and promptly told anyone reaching out.

"I respectfully told them that what they were trying to do is illegal and it could, actually, ruin my eligibility," Dennis said. "If they wanted to talk to me, I would have to have been in the portal already."

Pitt's loss of Addison sparked conversation across the country on how severe illegal tampering will get now that NIL deals are eligible for players. There has been reports of players like Brandon Hill getting offered major money to leave but remaining with the Panthers.

Now, we can add Dennis to that list.

"Right now, I want to keep the main thing the main thing and that’s Pitt football," Dennis said. "I have a lot of friends on this team, a lot of family on this team and a lot of young guys who look up to me. If I made that move, how would that look in their eyes? It was a lot that came into play, but mostly it was my love for Pitt football."
