PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are a finalist to land one of the most prolific scorers available in the transfer portal this offseason.

Former UNC Greensboro forward Mikeal Brown-Jones now has Pitt among his final three schools, alongside Ole Miss and Kansas State, according to a report from Joe Tipton, a college basketball recruiting insider for On3. Arkansas, Miami, Wisconsin and Georgia had also been involved, but Brown-Jones is no longer considering their offers.

It's easy to see why so many Power 5 schools have jumped at the opportunity to recruit Brown-Jones, who flourished for the Spartans in the first year of his career as a full-time starter.

In 28 games, all starts, Brown-Jones averaged 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 56% from 2-point range, 43.1% from deep and 78.7% from the free throw line. He earned First-Team All-Southern Conference honors.

The Panthers currently have four scholarships available heading into the spring and summer. They have needs at guard, center and power forward and Brown-Jones could help them address at least one of those holes.
