Dylan Brewer Off To Blazing Hot Start For Gamecocks

South Carolina's baseball is 14 games into the 2024 season, and Dylan Brewer is having one of the best starts of his career.

South Carolina is off to a good start this season, having compiled an 11-3 record just six days before the start of SEC play. Several factors explain why the Gamecocks have had success this season, with one of those being center fielder Dylan Brewer. You can boast about his ability in the field; you can talk about his offense, but whichever topic of discussion you choose, you find one thing: Consistency.

At the plate, he's been one of, if not the best, all-around bat so far this season for Mark Kingston and his staff. Brewer not only ranks at or near the top of several batting and base-running statistical categories for Carolina but also the SEC as well:

*Rankings based on SEC*

Batting Average: .478 | 2nd

On-Base Percentage: .590 | 2nd

Sacrifice Bunts: 3 | T-4th

Hits: 22 | T-4th

Stolen Bases: 4 | T-10th

Runs Scored: 17 | T-13th

On Friday night against Longwood, Dylan had one of his better performances of the year, racking up three extra-base hits (two solo home runs and a double), scoring three runs, batting in three runs, and stealing a base. He also recorded his 100th career RBI in the game.

Time will tell how Brewer's play can and will lift the team as we get closer to conference play, but one thing is for sure: this staff and the fans will hope he continues his blazing hot start and doesn't slow down anytime soon.
