TCU Men’s Basketball: Frogs To Play Clemson in Toronto

In this story:
Ahhh! Toronto at Christmas time! Whether it’s Christmas at the Castle, Winterfest at Canada’s Wonderland, or skating at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto is a festive place during the holiday season.
This Christmas season, adding to the festivities is the addition of a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame series pair of men’s college basketball games. Last week, it was announced that a Hall of Fame series will be played in Toronto for the first time since 2019.
The Basketball Hall of Fame Series Toronto will be on December 9, 2023, and will be at the Coca-Cola Coliseum. One game will feature TCU versus Clemson. The other game of the doubleheader will be Purdue versus Alabama.
“We are excited to play in the 2023 Hall of Fame Series Toronto,” said TCU head coach Jamie Dixon. “It will be a great experience to face a quality opponent like Clemson and do with the unique situation of playing a game in a foreign country.”
This will be the fourth meeting between the two programs. They last met on November 24, 2019, at the MGM Resorts Main Event in Las Vegas. Clemson won that game in overtime 62-60. Clemson holds a 3-0 all-time record over the Frogs. Before that game, the two teams had met twice before. Clemson won a game in 1977 in Clemson 125-62. And in 2008, the two met for a game in Charleston, South Carolina, with Clemson winning that one 70-58.
Last season, the Tigers went 23-11 overall and 14-6 in the ACC.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to compete in an outstanding Hall of Fame event in Toronto,” said Clemson head coach Brad Brownell. “I have great respect for Coach Dixon and the TCU program, and we’re excited about competing against a high-level opponent. It should be a great day of college basketball!”
TCU, which went 22-13 last season and 9-9 in the Big 12 Conference, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Scarborough, Ontario native Emanuel Miller returns for this third season with the Horned Frogs after earning All-Big 12 honors last season.
The Hall of Fame Series, owned and operated by Position Sports, is a collection of multi-game, singular events that will showcase several of the top collegiate basketball teams in exciting non-conference matchups played domestically and abroad. Other Hall of Fame Series games will be played in Las Vegas, Charlotte, San Antonio, and Phoenix in November and December.
Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale in July. On-sale dates, game times, fan experience information, and television broadcast details will be released later.
