Another week of nonconference games is in the books. In what was the biggest game of the week, if not one of the season's biggest games, Texas got its revenge with a 34-24 win over No. 3 Alabama. It was Nick Saban’s first double-digit loss at home since he started at Alabama.

Baylor and Texas Tech, hosting ranked teams from the Pac-12, unexpectedly lost close games, taking both teams to 0-2 to start the season. No. 12 Utah got the go-ahead touchdown with 0:23 left to beat Baylor 20-13. Then No. 14 Oregon got a go-ahead field goal with 1:14 left, then a pick-six two plays later to beat Tech 38-30.

UCF, playing on the blue turf in Boise, got a 40-yard field goal as time expired to beat Boise State 18-16.

Houston came from being down 28-0 to force overtime against Rice, only to lose in the second overtime. This year’s CyHawk game between Iowa State and Iowa was like they usually are – a close, one-score game. Iowa got the win, 20-13.

Kansas, Cincinnati, and Oklahoma State all had wins over Power 5 teams. Kansas State had no problem beating Troy, while Oklahoma held off SMU. BYU, West Virginia, and TCU all got expected wins over their FCS foes.
