TCU Golf: Bill Allcorn Announced as Men's New Head Golf Coach

TCU Athletic Director Jeremiah Donati recently announced hiring Abilene, Texas native Bill Allcorn as the new Head Men'sMen's Golf Coach. Allcorn was on staff at Oklahoma for the last six years, the first five as an assistant coach, before being promoted to associate head coach in 2022. Donati had this to say about the hire:
"I could not be more excited to welcome Bill Allcorn and his family to TCU. We conducted a national search and vetted a number of exceptional candidates with strong credentials, which speaks to the strong foundation Coach Bill Montigel has built and the opportunity in front of us. Coach Allcorn's vision for our program is ambitious and inspiring and is aligned with TCU's goals and values. He is the perfect fit to lead our men'smen's golf program moving forward." - Jeremiah Donati, TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Got one more stop before Fort Worth… Grayhawk with the OU boys 🏆 🏆 🏆 Let’s Go!! @OU_MGolf https://t.co/lRlfMLBi20
As the 2021 Jan Strickland National Assistant Coach of the Year, Allcorn helped Oklahoma cement itself atop collegiate golf as one of the best programs in the nation. OU won its second-straight Big 12 Championship this season and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the 12th straight season. With his help coaching, OU has won three Big 12 Championships, advanced to NCAA match play in all five years that a postseason has been held, and won 25 tournament titles.
Allcorn said this when asked about the opportunity to coach the Horned Frogs.
"My family and I could not be more excited to come to Fort Worth and have this great opportunity at TCU. We are grateful that Jeremiah Donati believed in our vision and has given us the chance to lead the men'smen's golf program. We have loved our six years in Norman and can't thank Coach Ryan Hybl, our players, and our support staff enough for the friendship and memories. The good Lord knew exactly where we needed to be to prepare us for where we are going. We are excited to finish off the 2023 season with the Sooners and then call TCU home!" - Bill Allcorn, TCU Men's Golf Head Coach
During the 2021-22 season, Oklahoma earned the overall No. 1 seed for the second consecutive season and advanced to NCAA match play for an NCAA-record sixth successive season. Allcorn was partially responsible for OU's runner-up finish at the national championship that season. The Sooners were the nation's number-one team entering the postseason and carried that momentum into the national championship match. That season, the entire Oklahoma starting lineup was named to the All-America team for the first time in school history.
Before working at Oklahoma, Allcorn spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant men's golf coach with the Baylor Bears. He also worked with Baylor's women's program in the spring of 2017. Allcorn has also developed Explosive Golf Training, a program designed to help golfers maintain posture and balance while improving accelerating and decelerating abilities in their golf swing. In addition, he has consulted with multiple college golf programs and trained both professionals and high-level amateurs in his program.
Allcorn was a petty good golfer; he played professionally for eight years, was the 2011 winner of the Adams Pro Tour Money List, and earned several victories on the Adams Pro Tour, state opens, and pro-am events. In addition, Allcorn was a four-year letter winner at Baylor. He competed in 38 tournaments during his career, claiming a title at the Bill Hill Invitational and finishing as runner-up in the 2009 Big 12 Championship. He graduated cum laude in 2009 with a degree in economics. He is a two-time All-American Scholar, a four-time Academic All-Big 12 team member, and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner'sCommissioner's Honor Roll 10 times.
He will have big shoes to fill as Coach Bill Montigel created a fantastic golf program at TCU. However, Horned Frogs should be excited to have him because he has developed so many great golfers, some even on the PGA right now, and he is ready for the task of head coach.
