The UCLA Bruins football team moved to 2-0 on the season this weekend after they took down San Diego State. It was a very impressive win for the Bruins, as their defense showed out against a tough Aztec running game.

Within the game, you could feel that the Bruins offense was taking cues from the defense. It helped freshman quarterback Dante Moore feel more at ease, and he showed out once again.

He has taken claim to the starting spot for the Bruins, which has been a clear advantage over the other two plates on the roster. However, head coach Chip Kelly continues to double down on his three-quarterback philosophy.

“We still feel we have three quarterbacks and feel good about that situation,” Kelly said. “I think it’s comforting to know that all three guys can play for you and we’ll see where we’re headed moving forward.”

Per The LA Times

In the game against San Diego State, Moore completed 17 of 27 passing attempts for 290 and three touchdowns. He has done everything and more to win the starting job, but there has still been no official word on the job being his.

“Kelly’s comments could be public posturing to show he’s got everyone’s back, but at some point his commitment issues could become a problem. If Moore continues to shine and isn’t rewarded as the permanent starter, that’s going to create its own mess.”

Per Ben Bolch of The LA Times

This is all great and could just be coach speak. But at some point, Kelly must be clear about who the starter is. He can’t keep beating around the bush; otherwise, it will cause more problems down the line.

UCLA welcomes in North Carolina Central to town this weekend in what will be another chance for Moore to show what he can do. The Bruins jumped into the top 25 recently, and they have no intention of going anywhere.
